The Claim
A 10,000 year old civilisation had recordable discs
Even though the claim on this one sounds well off, there’s also a second mystery that comes with this one. The Dropa stones are a series of over 700 stone disks measuring up to 12 inch’s in diameter, and covered in strange patterns, grooves and hieroglyphics.
They were discovered by a Chinese archaeologist called Dr. Chi Pu Tei in 1938, who was holding an expedition into the Baian-Kara-Ula region in China. The goal was to search a number of caves to find evidence of the ancient people who used to ive in them, but during the excavation of the floor, hundreds of these stone discs were found.
At first they didn’t seem like anything special, just another ancient stone carving, so they were placed in storage.
It wasn’t until 1962 when a researcher named Tsum Um Nui examined the discs and found that the groove patterns on the discs were actually a series of tiny hieroglyphics which could only be seen by magnification.
He claimed that he had deciphered some of the discs and said they spoke of the story of the Dropa people. He claims how they tell of a spaceship that crashed into the Bayan Har mountains and was became badly damaged. The Dropa people on the ship could not fix it and began to adapt to life on earth.
Apparently the native Chinese at the time hunted them down and eventually killed them all. Tsum mentions one specific translation from the discs which goes as follows:
“The Dropa came down from the clouds in their aircraft. Our men, women and children hid in the caves ten times before sunrise. When at last we understood the sign language of the Dropas, we realised that the newcomers had peaceful intentions”.
Tsum published a paper of his findings and was met with complete disbelief and became the center of various jokes, shortly after he moved to Japan in a self imposed exile and died shortly after reaching to country.
After Tsum’s supposed research into the Dropa discs, they weren’t touched again for several years until Russian researchers requested several of them for study.
Dr. Vyatcheslav Saizev led the experiments and came up with some surprising results. The first of which was that a light scraping was taken from the outside of the stones and analysed to determine they contained large amounts of cobalt and various other metals mixed in with the stone.
Secondly when placed on a special turntable they began to vibrate and produced a humming sound as an electric charge was passed through them.
After the Russians there’s only one more mention of the stones which comes from an Austrian engineer called Ernst Wegerer, who visited the Banpo Museum in Shannxi province where he saw 2 of the stones. His visit took place in 1974 and he simply took some close up pictures of them with the managers permission, however he returned to the museum again in 1994 only to find the stones and the manager gone.
So are they alien recording discs or not?
Well strangely enough every single one of the discs has gone missing, with no trace what so ever of their where abouts. This make some people think that the code on them was cracked to give some kind of alien created information, were others think the stones never existed in the first place.
The strangest thing is that there isn’t any actual “evidence” of them since they’ve all disappeared, and the supposed studies of them cant be verified. So take your pick, are they mysterious alien data stones that some government has seized and removed all trace of, or did they not even exist in the first place?
